A photo from the end of a site visit last week, as I was, ironically, on my way to the East River ferry.
On the far left, we have the Manhattan tower of the Brooklyn Bridge, with a hybrid telephone switching equipment and office building behind it. The white clapboard building is an old firehouse, now selling ice cream. The tower was used for hanging canvas hoses to let them dry.
On the right we have the Brooklyn tower of the bridge and, off in the distance, a new apartment house in Manhattan.
