A Suggestion For A Different Year

The title of the stereograph above is “View of holiday crowd in New York City” which is somewhat uninformative. Based on the picture, I’d guess late 1860s or early 1870s.

My suggestion: we need more holiday parades. Standing around in Times Square waiting for the ball to drop is terrible; a New Year’s parade on Broadway from Columbus Circle down to, say, Union Square would be great.
