It Looked Familiar: Oh, Come On

That’s a panel from a Spiderman comic above. For the record, this is the Queensboro Bridge:

And this is the Brooklyn Bridge:

One’s a three-span cantilever truss entirely in steel, the other’s a suspension bridge with stone towers.

Obviously, not every artist Marvel Comics employs is a New Yorker or even knows New York particularly well. (The wires on poles along the highway are a good example of an inherently wrong detail.) On the other hand, mistaking the Brooklyn Bridge for the Queensboro is an incredibly basic error and Spiderman is probably the most NYC-centric comic that Marvel publishes. (The only real competition for that title would be Daredevil.) It’s sort of embarrassing.
