It Looked Familiar: Across The River

Batgirl heading to Blüdhaven (probably Newark, although DC’s geography has a lot of issues). That suspension bridge looks familiar. Below, a photo from the HAER report on the George Washington Bridge.

As a side note, there’s actually a good historic reason for the bridge to have that name, despite Washington’s general disinterest (verging on dislike) regarding New York. It spans at a point of land that slightly narrows the river, between Washington Heights in Manhattan and Fort Lee, New Jersey. Fort Lee is named after fortifications built by Charles Lee, one of Washington’s generals during the 1776 New York campaign of the American Revolution; Washington Heights is another bit of high ground where the American army briefly had fortifications.
