Except that, as of this past summer, the Hotel Pennsylvania is gone. It was arguably the last of the grand railroad hotels left in New York, and it was no longer a grand railroad hotel since that category has not existed in the US in decades. It had the most famous front-desk phone number in hotel history – PE6-5000 – which I assume has been or will be reassigned.
