Mona Abdelfatah

Principal

Mona is a Principal Engineer with over 12 years experience in the preservation and restoration of existing structures. Adept at overseeing complex projects, including  bringing abandoned or disused structures back to life, her notable works include the T Building in Queens which saw the former hospital converted into an award-winning residential development.

Jurine Bhola

Administrative Assistant

Jurine brings together talents in creative problem-solving, strategic thinking and collaboration to assist project teams in achieving ambitious goals, delivering impactful results, and ensuring timely project delivery within budget.

Marie

Marie Ennis

Principal

With a Masters degree in Historic Preservation, Marie specializes in structural engineering for a wide variety of older buildings. Over the course of her 30 year career, Marie has worked on historic and landmark buildings including St. Peter’s in Chelsea, Public Bath 7 in Brooklyn, and St. Mary the Virgin Times Square – all Lucy Moses Award winners.

Ashley Farrell

Office Manager

Ashley has a broad range of responsibilities and a skill set to match. As well as overseeing and improving on the company’s practices and procedures, she is a creative professional with a drive for business development, marketing and communications. Her experience and focus provide the wider team with the organization and administrative oversight they need for each project.

Donald Friedman

Principal

Don is a leading voice in structural engineering for historic and old buildings and their continued relevance in the modern built environment. With special expertise in investigation and design, he brings over 30 years of experience, a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm to our clients projects in the preservation, renovation, investigation, and restoration of existing buildings.

Ellen Key

Project Manager

Ellen is a dedicated Project Manager with a Bachelors in Civil Engineering from the University of California, Los Angeles and Masters of Science from the Structural Analysis of Historical Constructions program at the University of Minho in Portugal. She is passionate about a hands-on approach to historic preservation. She is skilled in structural analysis, design, reports, and in finding engineering solutions that have a minimal visual impact on the buildings to which they are applied.

Shaquana Lovell

Associate

Shaquana is an Associate Engineer with over 16 years experience consulting on historic and existing buildings. Her breadth of expertise includes the delivery of detailed site surveys and structural analysis, as well as the preparation of feasibility/assessment reports and detailed construction documents for a variety of building types. She is skilled at managing complex projects that require coordination between clients, contractors, government agencies, and landmark preservation groups.

Melanie

Melanie McCloy

Project Manager

A recent graduate in Civil Engineering at Princeton University, Melaine brings passion and a keen eye for detail to all areas of her work. Her skill set includes investigation, design, drafting and project management. Since joining the team, she has worked on the preservation and restoration of apartment buildings, townhouses, landmarked and religious structures.

Tim

Tim Michiels

Principal

Tim is an expert in analyzing and designing repairs, upgrades and additions to a wide variety of existing structures. He is a licensed Professional Engineer, with a PhD in Structural Engineering and a M.Sc. degree in Historic Preservation. He also teaches at Columbia University and is an active award-winning researcher.

Eleanor

Eleanor Phetteplace

Project Manager

Eleanor is a highly skilled Project Manager with a passion for historic preservation and several years of experience as a preservation engineer throughout New England and New York City. After recently attaining her Master of Science in Historic Preservation from Columbia University, she completed a Graduate Internship with the Getty Conservation Institute’s Earthen Architecture Initiative. She is deeply committed to developing unique, creative design solutions that have minimal environmental impact. Along with Tim, she is researching many innovative reuse strategies and the role that adaptive reuse design can play in reducing embodied carbon and revitalizing communities.

Kamryn

Kamryn Wiesner

Engineer

Kamryn is a talented structural engineer with a Bachelors in Civil Engineering from The Ohio State University and an Advanced Masters in Structural Analysis of Monuments and Historical Constructions from the University of Minho in Portugal. Dedicated to historic preservation and adaptive reuse, she brings to the team her passion for finding creative solutions for building reuse through structural insight, and respect for history.

Katherine

Katherine Wishewan

Engineer

With a bachelor’s in Architectural Conservation and Sustainability Engineering and an Advanced Master’s in Structural Analysis of Monuments and Historical Construction, Kate’s knowledge of heritage conservation is as deep as it is broad.

Once a participant of the Organization of World Heritage Cities’ Young Travelling Scholarship, she brings an international view. Her previous projects include an abandoned 20th-century Canadian water treatment plant and a 14th-century Portuguese church.
