Your periodic reminder that elevated train lines, particularly older ones like the Manhattan els, were and are a blight on their surroundings: here’s Radio City Music Hall’s entrance underneath the Sixth Avenue el in 1934:

It’s romantic in a noir kind of way, and I’m sure the neon looked cool as your train passed by, but so much for any architectural intent in the bottom twenty feet of the facade.
