When APT was in Providence last fall for the annual meeting, I took pictures of a building:


In my research on old skyscrapers, I set cut-offs that buildings would be included if they were at least ten stories high and were structurally complete before the end of 1900. There were a number of cities that had exactly one such building, including Providence. The Banigan Building was the tallest in the city, and for a while the only one above ten stories. I’m reasonably certain that no one considers it a skyscraper today, even in a small city like Providence, but that’s okay.
