Yesterday, Old Structures personnel competed in the Corporate Challenge Race for the first time. Our team average time was 36:43 for the 3.5 mile course, very much based on the strong performances by Tim Michiels and Melanie McCloy. That was good enough to rank 145th out of the 428 companies competing in New York, and 7th out of 26 NYC A/E companies, which sure sounds like good news to me.
As it happens, the route to the starting line passed an auspicious landmark:

From left to right, Kami Wiesner, Mel McCloy, Gala Cooper (a recent graduate of Columbia and returning for her second stint as a summer intern), Kate Wishewan, Ellen Key (in her black non-runner tee shirt like the one I was wearing), Tim Michiels, Shaquana Lovell, and Jurine Bhola. The race shirts have a project we are quite proud of on the back:

It was especially satisfying to hold our post-race picnic at the Belvedere Summerhouse, one of our projects. Given the number of projects we’ve had in the park, we had our choice of landmarks we know well, but this seemed like the quietest after the race.

And the picnic must have smelled good, as we had a gate-crasher.
