Running Wild

Last winter, I mentioned the odd sense of humor displayed by someone at the MTA, who slipped a goat’s hoof into the Arthur Murray-style social-distancing footprints on subway platforms. I’ve also seen horseshoes, but we have a new height of bizarre jokes: large predators.

Interestingly, I could not find an exact match for the footprint above, seen at Chambers Street on the Lexington Avenue line, but in looking for it I learned that the footprints of big cats and large dogs are surprisingly similar. My foot’s a size 11-1/2 for reference, so I’m not sure I’d want to meet the carnivorous animal that has paws that size.
