I had some business in Sunset Park and so took the ferry to the Brooklyn Army Terminal. The picture above, looking east towards First Avenue, shows the back of Building A (on the right), the side of the Annex (on the left) and the arcade connecting them. If that looks familiar, it may be because you saw the movie Joker, where we have a nice view looking of Building A and the arcade looking west from First Avenue:
The Army Terminal was built as a vast warehouse (more on that tomorrow), so using it as a psychiatric hospital – even one as awful as the fictional Arkham – is a bitter joke.
