AI Art

There’s been a lot of news lately about various apps that use some form of artificial intelligence to create “art.” Speaking as an outsider to programming, they seem to me to be less about AI and more about identifying aspects of a given artist’s style and combining pre-made elements to imitate it in some way. In other words, it relies on our non-artificial intelligence to connect the dots and make something meaningful. That doesn’t mean I didn’t want to play around with it, although I have yet to learn the magic nuances of wording to get good results.

The “art” above was generated by “a painting of scary New York street in a steampunk style by Edward Hopper.” The scariest part of it is that there appears to be a person wearing a winter parka on an otherwise warm-looking day.
