It Looked Familiar: Backwards Not Upside-Down

The gaudily-dressed woman in Punchline, the Joker’s new girlfriend. She’s heading to be tried, apparently at the corner of Broome Street and Broadway, because that’s the Haughwout Building in the background. Here’s Google Street View:

The pseudo-Palladian windows in Haughwout’s cast-iron facade are distinctive but something’s not quite right. Here’s Street View flipped backwards:

That’s it. The tan four-story building that is in reality just north of Haughwout is over the pink “FREE PUNCHLINE” sign; its five-story neighbor is at the far right of the comic page.

Punchline is presented as a master of manipulating people, which is how she got the public to want her acquitted; it’s not clear whether using mirrored backgrounds counts as manipulation.
