It Looked Familiar: Fancy Digs

Hawkeye chases some bad guys in New York:

The relatively-low brown building two blocks up is the Dakota Apartments, but the drawing in the comic isn’t accurate enough to recognize it. The building at the first corner up, just above the black car, is more recognizable. There are two fancy apartment houses on the street with corner windows like that: the Century Apartments at 25 CPW and the Majestic Apartments at 115 CPW. The background isn’t right for it to be the Century, so the process of elimination gets very simple. The Century and Majestic are two of four buildings on the street with the same profile: two slender towers above a base that fills the block. The other two, the San Remo and the El Dorado, have pseudo-historic styling rather than the new sort-of art deco of the Century and Majestic; the tall tower above the rightmost text block is the San Remo at 145 CPW.
