The restoration of Notre Dame deserves all the praise that has been heaped upon it, but have I mentioned recently that my son and I have built the LEGO Notre Dame? We finished our small Notre Dame about a week after the official opening of the large one, but they had a head start on us. Anyway, here are the pictures:

The close-up pictures are me attempting to show what it would look like to a tiny LEGO person.
A few details… First, note that the tracery at the next-to-top tier of the towers is made up of a lot of little magic wands with stars on their ends. Second, note that the flying buttresses do not actually connect to the piers on their upper ends. Sad to say, the small one lacks some of the realism of the large one.
But, far and away, the best thing about the model is that the designer put some effort into the main sanctuary space. I assumed, while building it, that was for the sake of completeness, as the sanctuary is only really visible if you partially disassemble the model. But it turns out that if you look through the front doors, you can see a bit of the interior, just as when the doors of the large one are open you can see some of the sanctuary from outside. The last two pictures are a close up view of the door and a close up view looking through the door by lighting the interior.
