Research Update

A new year, and some more old papers made accessible:

  • Marie worked on a study of the uses of non-destructive testing with two co-authors (Robert Weber, William Windes) that resulted in a report from the Army Corps of Engineers, “Evaluation of Nondestructive Methods for Determining Structural Configurations of Existing Buildings”: here.
  • I presented a paper at the fourth ASCE forensic engineering conference on a collapse that was the in many ways the end of cast-iron column use in multi-story buildings in the US. “The Darlington Building Collapse: Modern Engineering and Obsolete Systems”: here.
  • I wrote a summary of my essay in Building the Empire State for ENR. “Empire State Lessons Endure”: here.
