We have been asked, many times, if it’s possible to reduce the noise from facade repair. The answer, in general, is not really. There’s no quiet way to remove masonry from a facade, or drill holes in it. The installation of new masonry is relatively quiet, but getting to the point where we’re ready to install new masonry will be noisy.
I worked from home briefly last week and WOW that was loud. Our building was about halfway through facade repairs when the winter started. Unlike some of the recent winters when it was possible to perform some facade work because the weather wasn’t so bad, this January and February were simply too cold for anything to happen. So everything sat, just like on the projects I’m working on, and waited for the spring thaw. Now that it’s warm, the work has started up again.

The corner window directly above where the brick has been removed is our living room; the window to the left is our bedroom. No wonder it was so loud: the chopping was taking place abut three feet to the left and two feet forward of where I am sitting as I write this blog post.
But, for the record, now that it’s happened to me…there’s still no way to reduce the noise.
